Routine Examinations and Eye Health Assessments

And because detection of common eye 6-3-13 033diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration is vital to the overall health of your eyes, all adult patients receive appropriate diagnostic tests and yearly eye dilation to ensure eye health. Children’s eyes are dilated on an as-needed basis.

Contact Lenses

news3We’ll provide a full contact lens evaluation and fitting to arrive at the best type of lenses based on your vision needs, health, lifestyle, prescription and comfort level. We utilize all types of contact lenses including daily and monthly disposable, soft, rigid, astigmatic and multi-focal. Our high success rate for multi-focal lenses means that we’re able to help many adults stay in contacts, even as it becomes increasingly difficult for them to read and complete close-up tasks in traditional contact lenses.

Vision Therapy

IMG_4317If your exam indicates deficiencies in your visual functioning, we may recommend optometric vision therapy. Weekly appointments and home therapy exercises aim to build neural pathways and improve the input and output of information between the eyes and the brain. Vision therapy addresses learning-related visual problems, as well as visual deficits due to trauma, neurological conditions and developmental delays.

Dr. Ruggiero is always insistent upon doing yearly dilation exams. One year, my eye was clear and the next year, she saw a new spot. She referred me for immediate follow up.  It turned out I had ocular melanoma! If she hadn’t caught it so fast, the outcome could have been really bad.
